Menus, Cards & Invitations: The Paper Stock Showdown

Choosing the right paper stock isn’t just about how it looks, it’s about how it feels, how it holds up, and how it works for your specific project. At PrintPup, we match the paper to the job so it not only looks the part but performs well in the real world.

Here’s our quick guide to what we’d pick for three common print jobs:

1. Cafe Menus – Tough, Wipeable & Ready for Spills

Recommended Stock: 300gsm Satin or Gloss, laminated (matt or gloss finish)
Why: Menus get handled, spilled on, and tossed around all day. A sturdy stock with a protective laminate keeps them looking fresh and easy to wipe clean (Lets face it - people are messy!) Gloss gives extra pop to photos, while matt keeps things classy and glare-free.

Go the extra mile with synthetic paper! non tearable and easy to wipe.

2. Business Cards – First Impressions That Last

Recommended Stock: 350–450gsm Art board, matt or velvet finish
Why: Your business card is often your first handshake. A thick, high-quality card feels premium in the hand and makes your brand memorable. Matt finishes give a smooth, modern look, while velvet adds a touch of luxury.

Want thicker? Duplexing 2 pieces of card makes for that even sturdier feeling.

3. Wedding Invitations – Elegant & Keepsake-Worthy

Recommended Stock: 300–350gsm Textured or Specialty Card (linen, cotton, or metallic)
Why: Wedding invites should feel special. Textured stocks like linen or cotton add tactile charm, while metallic finishes give a subtle glow. It’s about creating something your guests want to keep.

Want to go next-level? Add luxe touches like foiling, embossing, or die-cutting to create invitations that feel as good as they look and that guests can’t help but keep.

Pro Tip: The right stock makes all the difference. It’s not just paper—it’s part of the design. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to show samples and help you choose the perfect match.
